District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ramban,  Nazim Zai Khan   personally monitored the snow and roadclearance operation   at  various places  and ensured that all stranded passengers areprovided meals besides night shelter at RAHAT centres (designated places). 

SSP, Ramban Anita Sharma, ADC, Ramban,  Ashok Sharma, Dy. SP Traffic Suresh Sharma andvarious officers of civil and police administration supervised the adequatearrangements for the stay of stranded passengers besides road clearance intheir respective jurisdictions.  

 DDC said thatlandslides had blocked the 270-km highway, the only all-weather road linkingKashmir with rest of the country at Digdol, Mompassi and Panthyal in Rambandistrict.

After that administration had on job to clear the roadbesides providing night shelter, meals and heating arrangements to strandedpassengers, he added.

 DDC directedauthorities of executing agencies to depute adequate men and machinery toremove landslides instantly from national highway to avoid traffic breakdownbesides ensuring traffic worthy road 24 X7.  He appealed to the commuters to contact traffic control rooms beforestarting their journey on the highway.

             MeantimeDDC also inspected RAHAT centres (shelter sheds) established by theadministration along the National highway for the stay of commuters in case ofblockage of road from Nashri to Jawahar Tunnel.    He directed the SDMs of Banihal and Ramsooto ensure heating arrangements, eatables,  sanitation and toilet facility  in all  RAHAT centres besidesother necessary facilities for stranded passengers.
